About your host

He thinks it's clever. And funny.

Tyler Smith is an inordinately clumsy, sometimes musical, optically impaired, forgetful, pensive, confused, and stylish fellow that enjoys writing, technology, Go, and the music of Ludovico Einaudi. There are other things, of course.

He may often be seen with small white earphones protruding from his ears. Oh, and there are miscellaneous photographs that may or may not give you an idea of what he looks like.

About doodlemonger.com

Etymology

The term “doodlemonger” is the brainchild of Tina Faris Smith, and is quite cleverly the combination of the terms “doodle” and “monger”, implying a sort of wholesale whoring of digital scribbles upon the unsuspecting English reading Internet public. Although the term “whoring” would imply some sort of money exchange, which isn’t the case at all. Perhaps whoring is not the right word. In any case, be it known that doodlemonger.com does not condone the spending of money on illicit doodles. Doodlemonger.com encourages its readers (all ten of them) to save money and to spend it on legitimate doodles, whatever those may be.

Inspiration

The content of doodlemonger.com is the product of much late-night rambling, inspiration and musing. Most entries slide in around 10:30 PM, although it is not altogether unlikely that they find their way webward sometime throughout the many other times present in a day.

The quote you see at the bottom of every page was not written by the author/creator of this website. Regardless of what Tyler might like you to believe, he did not write this quote. Don't let him convince you otherwise. “A man talking sense to himself is no madder than a man talking nonsense not to himself” is actually a quote from Tom Stoppard’s masterful play-within-a-play Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead, andhas been placed there due to what the author/creator of this website thinks is a striking similarity between the witticism and his own sometimes quixotic reflections on his own history. Also, he thinks it's clever. And funny.

Organization

Content is organized chronologically and categorically (Stories, Thoughts, Travels), and is searchable. The whole shebang wouldn’t be quite so nice to maintain without the help of Movable Type, which is dandy.

Accessibility

Doodlemonger.com has been designed to be accessible. Read all about what that means in the official doodlemonger.com accessibility statement.

For those of you that insist on buying Tyler presents, you can find a collection of handsome items on his Amazon.com Wishlist. Tyler likes getting rugged little boxes in the mail. For whatever reason the smell of cardboard pleases him greatly.
