Arizona & The Grand Canyon

Tina and I returned on Monday from our trip to visit great friends in Arizona over the 4th of July holiday. We experienced the dry heat and cacti of Phoenix (the damn things are everywhere, like trees), and the absolutely awe-inspiring beauty (not to mention scale) that is the Grand Canyon. We even saw a few huge bull elk late one night, dining on the landscaped shrubberies next to our Grand Canyon hotel. They regarded us with bovine complacency, placidly enjoying what looked to be the only watered plants for hundreds of miles.
